Watch the top Friday night football games in New Orleans for Week 10

There have been several New Orleans football games moved to Thursday due to the threat of Hurricane Rafael, but there are still some exciting Week 10 games set for Friday.

Below are five areas that you should pay attention to.

South Plaquemines in Newman

7 p.m

Newman (7-0, 4-0) is one win away from the regular season and district championship, but the Greenies will face a tough opponent in South Plaquemines (7-2, 4-0). Newman’s offense was led by Princeton commit Eli Friend at quarterback. The Greenies have scored 40 or more points in all but one game this season, and their defense has allowed 10 or fewer points in all. South Plaquemines has an offense that has scored 28 or more points in all four district games and has seen its defense not allow more than 12 points during that stretch. It’s clear who the two best teams are in District 10-2A. All that’s left is for them to take it down the field to decide who the district champion is.

St. Paul’s Covington

7 p.m

St. Paul’s (8-1, 3-0) was able to pull off a thrilling district win last week against Mandeville, but the Wolves have more work to do if they want to win District 6-5A outright. That would be a road win against tough district rival Covington (8-1, 2-1), which lost to Mandeville earlier this year but could claim a piece of the district title with success. Covington has kept the offense scoring 28 or more points in all but one game, but St. Paul also has a strong offense led by senior quarterback Brennan Keim and a tough defense. Keim wants to keep his streak alive of never losing a district game when St. Paul starts the quarter.

Chalmette’s Anthem

7 p.m

Chalmette (6-3, 3-0) rode its streak during district play winning all three of its 7-5A games by 10 points or more, but the true test will come this week against and Salmen (5-4, 3- 0) with a district championship on the line. The Salmen have been successful during district play and will look to keep their foot on the gas as they have scored 30 or more points in four games this season. Chalmette has been solid defensively allowing fewer than 10 points in five games. It will be interesting to see if Salmen’s strong offense or Chalmette’s strong defense will prevail.

Holy Cross vs. Brother Martin

7pm, Tad Gormley Stadium

Brother Martin (5-4, 2-4) and Holy Cross (3-6, 2-4) haven’t had the seasons they hoped for, but have a chance to advance to the playoffs. of the playoffs. This week is close to winning for Holy Cross, which sits at No. 23 in Division I power ratings and could fall out of the postseason with a loss. Brother Martin is talented on offense but may be without a top player at Easton Royal due to a hamstring injury. The Tigers’ defense has been inconsistent. Holy Cross is solid offensively but has struggled to score despite talented players like Boston College commit Derrick Johnson.

Kennedy vs. LB Landry

7pm, Morris Jeff Stadium

Kennedy (5-4, 4-0) has one of the most explosive offenses in the state and has lost just one game on the road as they have won their first three games. Kennedy moved above .500 and will look to close out the regular season with a 5-0 district record. LB Landry (2-6, 2-2) had a tough season, but held his own in the district game losing to De La Salle by just one point and just two to Booker T. Washington . Landry can make things interesting, but Kennedy’s offense will be tough to stop with dual-threat senior Amyne Darensbourg and a strong skill group led by Louisiana Tech commit Kingston Jones.
